FAQs

Q 1

How do I order?

Ordering LDJ lights online is simple, safe and secure. We have selected Google Checkout as our payment system because not only is it fast and easy to use but also, we believe, the most secure method available of taking online payments.

Simply keep adding items to your 'basket' until you are ready to proceed and then click the 'Google Checkout' button and you'll be taken to Google's secure payment area where you can complete your order. If you already have a Google account you can complete your order by simply entering your Google username and password details. If you do not have a Google account it is really easy to create your username and password the first time.

If all the items you have requested are in stock, we'll send you an e-mail to confirm that we have recived your order and then another to confirm that your order has been despatched.

If any items are out of stock, then we'll advise you before proceeding

You are not charged for the goods until we despatch them.

Can I speak to someone if I have a query?

Yes, if you need any help please just call us on 01756 693900.

Our offices are open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4.30pm

Q 3

What about a Technical query?

Again please just call us on 01756 793900 and we'll get one of our qualified electricians to help you

Q 4

Do you sell replacement bulbs?

No - most of our products are professional quality and therefore designed with either fuse preservation circuits or long life non replaceable bulbs or LEDs.

However our traditional Classic Fairy lights do use standard bulbs and for these we include a minimum of two spare bulbs in the box with each set of lights. If you need any more relacement bulbs these can be bought at most garden centers or D.I.Y. shops prior to Christmas. The specification for the bulbs is given on our boxes

Q 5

Can you deliver next day?

Generally yes. We offer a next day courier delivery provided we receive your order by 2pm and it is going to the UK mainland.

We also offer Next Day Saturday Delivery

Q 6

How do I qualify for free delivery?

Free delivery is offered on every order for over £100.

Q 7

Which lights can go outside?

Our lights are listed in easy to follow categories for indoor only or outdoor & indoor use.

Q 8

What does IP44 or IP64 mean?

IP44 and IP64 ratings mean that the lights can be put up outdoors and left out in all weathers (but they can’t be immersed in water, such as a pond).

All our outdoor lights are also fitted with IP44 or IP64 controllers and transformers

Q 9

Which are better - LEDs or filament lights?

LED's are much more expensive than filament bulbs but they do have a number of significant advantages such as:-

a) They are incredibly bright- 3 x times brighter than traditional Christmas lights which makes them particularly good outdoors

b) They use 80% less power.

c) They always stay cool to touch - NEVER get hot.

d) They last up to 10 x times longer (up to 100,000 hours).

Having said that traditional filament bulbs give a softer, warmer light which some people prefer, however we have now developed Warm White LEDs which also give a softer warmer light

Q 10

What are connectable lights?

These are lights which can be joined together. For example with our Starsystem Connectable LEDs you can join up to 30 sets together giving a total length of 300m or up to 3000bulbs. You can also join white and multi coloured lights together or have the flexibility to add more lights each year.

All you need to start your Starsystem is one Starsystem Plug/Adaptor.

If you want to see how easy it is just look at the video on our website

Q 11

What is the difference between Static and Multi Effect lights?

Static lights stay on constantly.

Multi Effect lights have a controller which allows you to select up to 8 different light sequences such as twinkling, slow fade, flashing etc as well as static. You can see these by looking at the video for each multi effect light

Q 12

Are your lights compatible with other European Countries?

Yes - all our lights meet the highest quality standards of the European Union and the UK. They are designed for 230-240V which covers most of Europe. They are naturally supplied with a UK style plug so you will need to buy an adaptor to convert this for the particular country you live in.

Q 13

Will LDJ lights work in the USA?

No, we're very sorry, because our lights are designed to run on 230-240V so they are not suitable for the USA

Q14

How many lights do I need for my Christmas tree?

This depends on 3 things – the height of your tree, the type (brightness) of bulbs and, the coverage you want (for example if you have alot of baubles you will need fewer lights)

As a very rough rule of thumb for full coverage we suggest:-

For filament lights – 100 bulbs per foot of tree

ie for a 6ft tree – 600 bulbs

for a 7ft tree – 700 bulbs

For LEDs, which are much brighter – 50 bulbs per foot of tree

ie for a 6ft tree – 300 LEDs

for a 7ft tree – 350 LEDs

If you have alot of baubles/decorations then these figures may be reduced by up to 50%

For Cluster lights we suggest 1 metre of Cluster lights per foot of tree ie for a 7ft tree – ie 7 metres of Cluster Lights (equivalent to two sets of our 576 bulb Cluster Lights)
